Georgian Period English Wooden
This Georgian English wooden doll has a wood head covered with gesso. The wig is human hair but only surrounds
the face where it peeks from under the cap. The eyes are framed with dotted eyelashes and eyebrows. The body is
carved wood but the legs have vanished into history. The base of the body is rectangular suggesting this is an earlier
Georgian as opposed to the later ones with the tapered bodies. The body and undergarments are enclosed in a linen
sack. The costume is all original and beautifully embroidered.
