French Style Papier Mache by Voit
This is a so called "French style" papier mache known as Pauline made by the Andreas Voit Company. These dolls were made
from the early 1800s through the 1860s. Though open mouth dolls were made after 1840, closed mouth dolls such as this were
made throughout the production period. This doll has brown glass eyes and slight wisps of hair painted around the black spot.
She has a human hair wig in the style of Queen Victoria with the braids looping around the ears and coming together in a braided
bun at the back of the head. Her dress is period appropriate but not original to the doll. Her body is cloth with leather arms. It is
also likely a replacement. This doll is 20 inches tall.
