Young Lady or Girl Papier Mache Doll
This papier mache is unusual as it is a girl instead of a lady.  It dates from the 1840s-1850s.  The dress is characteristic of the
time with its segmented sleeve design and double layer of skirting.  It is made of heavy muslin with a lighter cotton shirt.  The
undergarments consist of two slips and pantaloons and are made of light cotton.  Her hairstyle is classic for young ladies and
girls of the time with the long ringlets to the shoulders.  The body is white leather with wood lower arms and legs attached with
blue bands.  The feet are painted with yellow slippers.  Maker is unknown but may be Voit.  This doll is 15 inches tall
