Jenny Lind China Doll
This is a 17 inch all original china head doll known as Jenny Lind. Her perfect china head is on a cloth body with china
forearms and lower legs. Her painting is reminiscent of A. W. Fr. Kister. Her costume is iridescent silk in the style of the
1870s.
Jenny Lind (1820-1887) was also known as the Swedish Nightingale because of her wonderful voice. Born in Sweden, she
toured Europe, England and the United States as an soprano. Through out her career she worked with Chopin,
Mendelssohn, PT Barnum, and Hans Christian Anderson (She is reputed to have inspired the "Ugly Duckling", "the
Nightingale", and "the Angel"). She was also noted for her philanthropic work supporting charities and hospitals on both
sides of the Atlantic.
