Rorstrand China Doll
This 22 inch china head doll was made by the Swedish firm, Rorstrand. Her perfect china head is on an original cloth
body with china forearms and lower legs. She has flat painted and molded boots. Her costume is original to the
period but not original to the doll.
Rohrstrand Porcelain Manufacturing is the second oldest porcelain company in Europe (after Meissen) dating to
1726. The company is noted today primarily for its dinnerware. However, historically it did make a few dolls. Notable
among them are the early china dolls with braided coronets and decorated combs in their hair. Several of these were
held in the Legoland museum. This example is a little later, dating to the 1870s.
