Baehr and Proschild
Description of doll and its   history
George Baehr and August Proeschild established this factory in Ohrdruf in 1871.  Bruno Schmidt doll factory of Waltershausen
(insert mark) had all of its porcelain heads made by Baehr and Proeschild.  According to the U.S. Department of Commerce,
Baehr and Proeschild made bisque and china head dolls.  No marked china head dolls have been identified but the bisque dolls
often had mold numbers early on, then with word “dep” from 1888 on, then B&P initials from 1895 on.  The crossed swords
were added to the B&P in 1900.  Ultimately, Bruno Schmidt bought the factory in 1918.  As so many other Germany porcelain
factories in the 1930s, the factory closed in 1936.
